Wheat Sprouts 2 variations

Recipe card for Wheat Sprouts:

Preparation Time : 5 mins 

Cooking Time: 25 mins - 30 mins

Serves: 7-8 bowls

Ingredients:

  • 200 gms wheat (soak in water)

  • salt

 First variation (sweet):

  • 100 gms / half of boiled wheat sprouts

  • 3 tsp milk powder 

  • 5 tsp sugar

  • 3 tbsp fresh coconut

Second variation (spicy):

  • 100 gms /half of boiled wheat sprouts

  • 1/2 tsp green chilly paste

  • 3 tbsp fresh coconut 

  • 1 tsp lemon juice 

  • 1 pinch hing

  • salt

  • curry leaves and mustard seeds (for tadka)

Instruction:

  1. Soak wheat grains in water 16-18 hours.

  2. After 18 hours strain the water and keep aside for 10 mins

  3. Take a sprout box and fill in a glass of water in the bottom layer.

  4. Place the upper layer and pour in the soaked and strained wheat and close the lid.

  5. Keep it aside for 24 hours.

  6. After 24 hours open the sprout box and check if wheat has sprouted well else leave it for some more time.

  7. Transfer the sprouts to a vessel, sprinkle some water and salt and pressure cook it for 5-7 whistles.

First variation (sweet):

  1. Take half a portion of boiled wheat sprouts in a mixing bowl.

  2. Add in milk powder, fresh coconut and sugar.

  3. Mix all of the above well and its ready to be served.

Second variation (spicy):

  1. Take half a portion of boiled wheat sprouts in a mixing bowl.

  2. Add green chilly paste, tadka, lemon juice, hing, fresh coconut, and salt.

  3. Mix all of the above well and its ready to be served.
