Ridge Gourd Soup/

Heerekayi/Beerakaya Soup

Cooking Time: 35mins - 40 mins

Serves: 4-5 bowls

Ingredients:​

  • 1/2 kg ridge gourd chopped

  • 1 small onion chopped

  • 1 green chilly

  • 4-5 cloves garlic

  • 1 tsp jeera

  • 1/2 tsp pepper chrushed

  • 12 curry leavves

  • 3 tbs milk

  • 2 tsp ghee

  • 1 cup water

  • 1 tsp lemon juice

  • salt

Instruction:

  1. Take a pan/kadai and heat the ghee.

  2. Add in curry leaves, jeera and crushed pepper.

  3. Further add in garlic, onions and green chilly and saute until soft.

  4. Add chopped ridge gourd and give it a nice stir.

  5. Put some milk and close the lid and cook well till ridge gourd are completely soft.

  6. Turn off the flame and cool the vegetables for while and transfer it to a mixing jar.

  7. Blend it to a smooth paste

  8. Now transfer it to the kadai and heat it well.

  9. Add some salt and water and boil well.

  10. Turn off the flame when it has started boiling and squeeze in some lemon juice.

  11. Serve it hot with some roasted bread.
